Ramlan Ortega Shihan

6th Dan Aikido

Chief Instructor of Aikido Shudokan Malaysia / Singapore. 

Founding Senior Instructor of Aikido Shudokan International

 

Born in January 1968, Ramlan Ortega is married with 7 children. From a very young age, Ramlan Shihan has had an affinity for the martial arts. His earliest journey in the Martial Arts began with him learning Silat from his uncle and also dabbling in Tae Kwan Do during his school days. His truly calling to Martial Arts began when he began training Aikido 29 years ago and he hasn’t looked back since.

 

He began his Aikido journey in 1994 and received his 1st Dan black belt from Kancho Inoue Kyoichi Sensei (10th dan) who was then the Headmaster of the International Yoshinkan 

Aikido Federation in Japan circa 1997. Ramlan Ortega Shihan became a student of Thamby Rajah Sensei (Founder of Aikido in Malaysia) in 1998. In June of 2018, Ramlan Shihan was awarded his 6th Dan and on 29 March 2019, conferred the title of Shihan from Aiko Inoue Kaicho (President) and Joe Thambu Shuseiki Shihan of Aikido Shudokan International.

 

Ramlan Ortega Shihan has devoted his life to spreading aikido under the tutelage of his mentor Joe Thambu Shuseki Shihan and founded both the Malaysian and Singaporean schools of Aikido Shudokan. He has returned to Australia and Japan many times over the last two decades for advanced training and to participate in Aikido demonstrations and seminars. He also has featured in numerous demonstrations in Japan, Australia, UK, Europe, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Kazakstan, Iran, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

 

To date, Ramlan Ortega Shihan also oversees the spreading of Aikido Shudokan in Taiwan (Taipei Aikido Shiseikan) & Hong Kong (Aikido Shudokan Hong Kong) which led by 2 of his direct students.

 

He also taught in overseas seminars such as Australia, UK, Czech Republic, Holland, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Iran, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore. Besides teaching Yoshinkan style of Aikido, he also conducts workshops & seminars for women, securities industries and known as motivational speaker for government & private sectors. Ramlan Ortega Shihan been featured in various segment in TV programme such as Selamat Pagi Malaysia, Nona, Km/j (Technical Advisor – Self Defence), Beat TV, and Bisnes Malaysia.

 

Sensei personal objective is to achieve and maintain a high level of Aikido for himself and also his students. All of his 7 children are training in Aikido as well and 3 of them achieved black belt and assisting him during classes locally and internationally as well.
